Like so many of us who build software products for a living, I'm scrambling to adapt to life on a new planet as reasoning language models and autonomous agents revolutionize everything. Having worked with customers to better operate data infrastructure, most recently CockroachDB, I'm studying how this discipline is evolving. I think AI-based development is out in front of AI-based operations, so there are lots of opportunities there. Observability is especially interesting, as its purview expands from being about doing things right to doing the right things in the world. Working at Microsoft on responsible AI outcomes I gained appreciation for how challenging this is. To explore this new observability frontier, I'm developing Schema, an MCP Server that SRE agents synchronize with for technical intelligence about infrastructure products. I'm also eager to explore product leadership roles with teams doing related work.
