I'm a product leader and software engineer with 20+ years of experience building data infrastructure, ML platforms, and developer tools. My career has traced an arc from building BI and analytics systems, to cloud ML platforms, to distributed databases, to the emerging intersection of AI and infrastructure operations.
Most recently I was a Product Manager at Cockroach Labs, where I led the CockroachDB Cloud operational tooling (API, Terraform Provider, CLI) and took on product responsibility for CockroachDB Cloud Serverless — an autoscaling, multi-tenant distributed SQL database.
Before that, I was a Software Engineer on Azure Machine Learning at Microsoft's New England R&D Center, building cloud platform software for ML model development and operationalization.
From 2011–2017 I ran a software development consultancy, helping early-stage startups build their first web and mobile products. I've delivered entire products solo (including UI/UX design) and led teams on large projects. Before going independent, I founded Rally, a Twitter-data-mining startup for social event discovery, and earlier built data management and BI systems at MicroStrategy and SAS Institute.
I live in Cambridge, MA with my wife and three kids.
